Special Events
The Knights of Columbus sponsors these fish dinners on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Fridays of Lent, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, in the parish center.
St. Joseph Table / Spaghetti Dinner (March)
Always on the Sunday nearest the Feast of St. Joseph (March 19). The parish hosts a beautiful St. Joseph Table and Spaghetti Dinner. The St. Joseph Table is an Italian custom honoring St. Joseph. It is filled with baked goods and pastries. The event is in the parish center.
Mother/Daughter/Friend Salad Dinner (TBA)
This special dinner is sponsored by the Altar Society. It is held annually in april. Contact the parish office for more information.
Fall Festival (September)
This is the main social gathering and fund-raiser of the year for the Cathedral. It is the 3rd Saturday of September, 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm in the Parish Center, Spurlock Hall and small parking lot. There is a dinner plus games, raffles, silent auction, and booths. Volunteers are always needed. Contact Jim & Julie Kostelac at 913-321-1286.
Christmas Homes Tour / Display of Nativities (November)
This special event on the 2nd Sunday of Advent is sponsored by the Altar Society. You are invited to visit several homes decorated for Christmas. The parish center is decorated beautifully for Christmas and displays many Nativity sets brought by parishioners. In 2011, there were 72 sets displayed!
Pancake Breakfast with Santa (December)
This special event, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, is held on the 3rd Sunday of Advent, 8:00 am - 1:00 pm in Spurlock Hall. There is a great breakfast of sausage, pancakes, scrambled eggs, and a special guest for the children.
