Parish Activities
There is Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every Tuesday from 8:45 am to 9:15 pm in the chapel. Exposition begins at 8:45 am after Mass and concludes with Benediction at 9:15 pm. The chapel is open all day for anyone who might want to visit.

Bearers of the Gifts at Offertory
If you and your family would like to carry up the bread, water, wine and collection at the Offertory of the mass, please contact Sally Campion at 913-371-1477.
Choir
The choir sings at the 11:00 am Sunday Mass and at Archdiocesan events. Choir practice is Thursdays at 7:15 pm - 8:30 pm. The Choir Director is David Sachen who can be contacted at 913-281-4592.
Contemporary Music Group
This group sings at the 5:00 pm Sunday Mass. If you are interested in joining, contact Brian McKiernan at 913-281-2918.
Catholic Youth Organization (CYO)
CYO promotes youth athletic programs (volleyball, basketball, football, track). Volunteers help through coaching, assisting coaches, taking tickets, concession sales, and clean-up. Must be Virtus trained. If interested, contact Carrie Lally at 913-549-4481.
Collection Counters
This group coordinates the counting of the Sunday Collections. If interested, contact Mel Mika at 913-371-1847.
Confirmation Preparation
Youth in our Resurrection School are prepared in 8th grade. For youth in public schools, please contact the School of Religion, Antonette Nicotera 913-233-1822.
Church Decorations
Michael Rebout plans and coordinates the decoration of the church. Help is always appreciated at Christmas and Easter. Contact Michael Rebout 913-621-4250.
Fall Festival
This is the main social gathering and fund-raiser of the year for the Cathedral. It is the 3rd Saturday of September, 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm in the Parish Center, Spurlock Hall and small parking lot. There is a dinner plus games, raffles, silent auction, and booths. Volunteers are always needed. Contact Jim & Julie Kostelac at 913-321-1286.
Facilities and Maintenance
Mike Hinkle helps oversee and coordinate the on-going maintenance of the Church facilities. In order to help, contact him at 913-371-1891.
Finance Council
Finance Councils are mandated by Church Canon Law. They work with the Pastor in monitoring and managing the parish finances. Contact Tom Ceselski at 913-334-3447 or Father Harold Schneider at 913-371-0840.
Food Drive
A food collection is held on the 2nd weekend of the month every other month. The food is taken to the Catholic Charities Emergency Assistance Center, 2220 Central Avenue Kansas City, KS. If interested in assisting, contact Julie Johnson at 913-281-9704.
Funeral Dinner Committee
This committee prepares and serves dinners for parishioners upon request, after funerals held at the Cathedral. Contact Virginia Gorman at 913-281-1854 to schedule a dinner.
Greeters
These people are essential to providing hospitality to our parishioners and visitors. They arrive early, stand at the doors, and welcome people to mass. Contact Sally Campion at 913-371-1477 to volunteer.
Habitat for Humanity
They build good housing and afford an opportunity to join with the greater community in making a difference. Please contact Tom Lally at 913-549-4481 if interested in volunteering.
Heavenly Helpers
They are volunteers who come on Saturday mornings to do simple cleaning in the church (dusting, change holy water, check bathrooms, etc.). Please contact Lorene Rychlec at 913-321-6917 if interested in volunteering.
Home and Hospital Visitors
Volunteers visit the sick and elderly home-bound to take Holy Communion. Contact Father Harold Schneider at 913-371-0840 for training and more information.
Knights of Columbus
Catholic men's social and service organization who meet monthly. They meet the first Wednesday of each month. The four missions of the council are: charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. If interested in joining contact Mike Hinkle at 913-371-1891.
Ladies Altar Society
An organization of women of the parish who meet monthly for social and spiritual support. They meet after 9:00 am Sunday Mass in the parish center. They help the parish in many ways. Contact either Patty McKiernan at 913-281-2918 or Diane Hinkle at 913-371-1891 for more information.
Marriage Preparation Lead Couples
Couples are always needed to help prepare young couples for marriage. What better ministry for married couples than to help young couples. Training is provided. Contact Dan and Terry Norris for information on helping at 913-342-0460.
Parish Prayer Line
A group of people who pray every day for special intentions. Contact Judy Hawken at 913-621-3315 to ask for special prayers or to join the group as one who offers the prayer.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
This is the process of spiritual and educational formation for those wishing to become members of the Catholic Church. Sessions begin in mid-September and conclude with Baptism and reception into the Church at Easter Vigil Mass by the Archbishop. Sessions are on Wednesdays from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm in Spurlock Hall (cafeteria of the school). Contact Joyce Holzhuter at 913-634-0290 or Father Harold Schneider at 913-371-0840 for more information.
St. Peter's Neighborhood Association
An association of people who live north of Grandview Blvd, South of Armstrong, East of 18th Street, and West of 13th Street. They meet the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:00 pm in the Parish Center to discuss issues and concerns of the neighborhood and community. Local police representatives are present to hear concerns. Sacristans
They help prepare for Mass, care for the Sanctuary, and clean-up after masses, weddings, and funerals. Contact virginia Gorman at 913-281-1854 or Father Harold Schneider at 913-371-0840 for more information.
School of Religion
These are weekly classes that teach on Catholic Faith to our children who are in public schools There is sacramental preparation. Classes are from mid-September to May 1st. They are Wednesdays from 5:00pm to 6:00 pm in the school. Volunteer teachers are always needed. Contact Antonette Nicotera at 913-233-1822.
Servers
Serving Mass is an extremely important ministry. Boys and girls, grade 5 and up serve at the 9:00 am, 11:00 am Sunday masses, at school masses, funerals, and weddings. Men are serving at the 4:00 pm Saturday evening mass and the Sunday 5:00 pm Sunday evening mass. Contact Father Harold Schneider 913-371-0840 for information and training.
Ushers
This group serves many essential liturgical functions at mass: seating the assembly, handling the collection, giving asisstance to people during mass, and distributing weekly bulletins. Contact Father Harold Schneider at 913-371-0840 for more information.
Welcoming Committee
Are you interested in becoming a part of the newly formed Welcoming Committee? This committee’s main objectives are to meet, greet and welcome new parishioners to the Cathedral community.
